Hot tub break downs and call-outs

It is frustrating when a hot tub breaks just as you were looking forward to relaxing. Understanding the terminology helps the call-out go smoothly.

What the error is telling you

Thames Pool Care stock LX pumps, so we are ready to fix and repair the same day.

Balboa control faults

Balboa is a popular brand of spa controls and electrical systems. When one malfunctions, it is often down to the control panel, sensors or wiring. The system may show an error code such as "Water Flow Error" or "Dry".

Low flow

Insufficient water movement through the filtration system, from clogged or dirty filters, blocked hoses or a failing circulation pump. An underperforming pump will trigger low-flow warnings.

Dry error

The pump is running without water, which can cause severe damage if left unchecked. It can happen if the tub is not primed correctly after filling, or air is trapped in the lines. Contact us immediately if this happens.

What happens on a call-out

A professional spa technician runs diagnostics: inspecting the Balboa control system for faults, testing water flow, cleaning filters, checking for airlocks in the plumbing and making sure all pumps and heaters work as they should.

We also check for any error codes on the system, as these give specific information about what part of the system is malfunctioning.
