Why replace a pool liner
- Wear and tear. UV, chemicals and general use cause fading, cracking and leaks.
- Appearance. A new liner restores the look of an outdoor or indoor pool.
- Protecting the shell. A damaged liner can lead to cracking or rusting of the pool shell.
Types of liner
Above-ground. Overlap and beaded options. We only replace above-ground liners on some wooden swimming pools.
In-ground. Custom made for traditional and freeform designs, often reinforced vinyl. We offer a discount on replacement liners to all Lincoln Pools' customers, who used to be based in Stokenchurch.
Bag liners and on-site liners. Vinyl bag liners are durable, easy to clean and resistant to stains. Reinforced membranes, or on-site liners, are incredibly durable. We offer the latest membranes from Aquaflex SCP and Certikin.
The replacement process
You need accurate measurements of the pool's dimensions and depth to ensure the liner fits properly, and we build this into our scope of work. Base preparation, inspection and pipework testing are carried out in accordance with the SPATA standards.
Professionally maintaining the pool, or installing a dosing system, keeps the water balanced and helps the liner last. DIY kits exist, but we advise against them as it very rarely goes well.
Warranty
Most liners come with a warranty from 10 years to a lifetime. With an on-site system, ask who is installing the liner. From late 2024, Thames Pool Care started using the only two mainstream installers holding the European accreditation and back the installation warranty.
Value and cost
A fresh liner is like a fresh lick of paint ahead of a sale. Thames Pool Care has had varying meetings with local estate agents in Bucks and Berkshire, including Hamptons, Savills and Michael Graham, who understand the importance of keeping the house in order when it comes to valuation. Installation is charged by pool size and complexity, and around the Thames there are many complexities to consider, such as water table and ground pressures. We advise on this during the survey.
